I used to work at a shop that picked one up, super fun... if you get a decent plotter and aren't fighting it all the time. The one we got was a nice one and it worked like a dream and I never had any issues but I've used others that were a nightmare, just be smart about it.

my church has one, and they use it ALL the time, they paid about 400 bucks for it, and my mom is on staff (childrens pastor) and she paid for 1/4th of it out of her budget, its mainly the youth department's though, that being said, its like 4 ft wide and can do vinly about that wide, and the ironic thing is that it was just as expensive for the vinyl cutter that was 4 ft wide and connected to a computer as it was for the overpriced CRICUT that would only do about 1 ft wide at most, plus you have to buy the cartridges for the CRICUT for different fonts, but with the vinyl machine the church has, you can use ANY font for free.

Find a sign shop to donate you their scrap vinyl. The stuff you buy in the retail environment is priced immorally. We throw away 100s of feet of vinyl a month.
